Combating oxidative stress and DNA damage with anthocyanins.

June 26, 2007

Wow!  Read this exerpt from the REALage website…

“In a recent study, researchers discovered that the extracts of certain berries helped combat oxidative stress and DNA damage, both of which play roles in the development of Alzheimer’s disease.”

Further these berries “are rich in anthocyanins, potent disease-fighting antioxidants. Fruits high in anthocyanins tend to have deep red or purple hues. In a recent study, researchers discovered that both blackcurrant and boysenberry extracts helped combat oxidative stress and DNA damage, two processes that contribute to Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, and aging”.

The mangosteen fruit is not even mentioned because 90% of the world still has not heard of it!  Want to learn more about the mangosteen and watch a short video on it?  It doesn’t get any more purple than that!  Wait till they learn about the mangosteen and its 44 xanthones AND anthocyanins.  Click here for the link to the RealAge page and the research:  A Berry Good Memory

Is this the key to longevity?  Has the answer to aging been right here all this time?  I read again and again how inflammation is the root of so many of our preventable diseases… Why not a natural anti-inflammatory?
